Whilst Meyline was working on a healing potion, she put the wrong ingredient in and it exploded in a cloud of lilac smoke, causing Meyline to collapse and suddenly awake in a mysterious world that doesn't harbour the physical magic she's used to. Instead, Meyline has come accustomed to this worlds magic through the use of crystals and cards, and hopes she can help in the same ways that she does in her home world, starting with healing the wonderful people who visit her during her role as a maid.

As for how she became a maid? Well, whilst brewing potions in the comfort of her new cottage, an accident accrued when her pet familiar fox somehow managed to drink one before it was finished! Sadly, this made her very ill, but luckily, Mayleen knew how to cure it! As she always says, there’s a potion for everything! However, after a few long, sleepless weeks of tracing down the location of the one vital herb that the potion required, she finally found it! A deep, dark, potentially haunted forest.
After realising that this forest was actually inhabited by a lot of strange creatures, she gained permission from them to take the herbs, and in return, decided to stay and help the creatures with whatever they may be doing. As it turns out, this was running a maid cafe! After a little research, Mayleen discovered how excited she truly was to begin working here.

Well basically, in making potions, her familiar pet fox drank one before it was finished and got ill. She could cure him but was missing a key ingredient. Turns out it only grows in the forest the mansion resides in, so after being allowed access to them, she assumed the role of a maid to thank them.
